Payroll Clerk (temp to perm)

My client, a growing business in Pencoed, is looking for an experienced Payroll Clerk to join their team on a temporary to permanent basis.

The role:
They are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Payroll Clerk to join their busy accounts team.
This position would suit someone who has a great deal of experience in this area and can assume full responsibility for the payroll function, ideally with experience in other areas of accounts to help the team when required. The ideal candidate will be customer focused and committed to delivering and maintaining exceptionally high standards of work.

Main Duties:
Analysis of timesheets for rates, overtime and expenses
Ensure new starters are set up on payroll, and their bank details are set up on the payroll system ready for first payment.
Process all timesheets ready to enter on to payroll – check for accuracy, calculate hours worked, correct rate of pay etc.
Process leavers. Send out P45.
Run weekly payroll process using Sage 50 Payroll include pension assessment, holiday pay.
Run reports.
Process wages payment on the bank.
Close down the payroll and process RTI to HMRC.
Upload pension contributions on the People Pension website.
Process the Monthly payroll.
Journal the weekly/monthly payroll on to Sage 50 accounts.
Reconcile the Pension contributions and set up the amount to be taken by direct debit through the website.
Reconcile PAYE/NI to P32 and Sage. Make payment by 22nd of the month to HMRC.
Process all court orders and CSA deductions when received.
Make payment in accordance with the regulation to the appropriate body.
Administration of pension letters to inform employees of auto-enrolment.
Process year end. Send out all P60.
Keep up to date with new legislation and ensure new legislation is implemented on time.
Deal with employees enquiries.
Complete office of national statistics forms.
Deal with queries from Pension companies, HMRC and other statutory bodies.
Other accounts tasks as required by Assistant Accountant & Finance Director

Essential requirements:
Proficient in Sage 50 payroll
Experience in a similar role
Good communication skills.

Desirable Requirements
Experience of using Sage 50 Accounts
Experience in other areas of accounts
