Technical Implementation Engineer / Site Reliability Engineer

Liga Recruitment are currently recruiting for a Technical Implementation Engineer / Site Reliability Engineer for an industry leading client within the document fraud sector.

Salary Range: £40,000 – 50,000

Responsible To: Head of Product Development

Job Purpose
The Technical Implementation Engineer / Site Reliability Engineer will perform an essential function in forming a bridge between the project delivery function and the software development function of the business. Suitable for a mid-level / senior developer with an interest in / aptitude for integrations and complex problem solving with strong customer facing skills. The role will ensure that new projects are delivered by removing technical obstacles and building integrations, and will address 3rd line support issues to provide excellent customer service.

Responsibilities
Single Sign On Integration
The role will have primary responsibility for implementation of single sign on solutions. Ordinarily, these will already be developed solutions which require technical skill and expertise to configure (e.g. via XML files)

Data Integration
The role will have primary responsibility for implementation of data integrations with customer data sources. These may be via configuration of data integrations already built (such as existing APIs, Data Extraction tools), or the development of bespoke data integrations and data pre-processors for importing and outputting data.

Technical assistance on customer support issues
The role will be responsible for providing technical assistance on support issues raised by customers. This will include (if necessary) assistance with Hotfixes, code changes, patches etc as well as advice. A basic knowledge of infrastructure principles will be invaluable, as the role will be expected to identify where issues could be caused by hardware as well as software.

Technical assistance for installation of product
Where an installation engineer is experiencing difficulties in installing or configuring a product, the role will provide technical assistance, advice and hands-on help.

Code changes to legacy applications
The role will be responsible for developing code changes for legacy applications. These are likely to be small and infrequent, as no new functionality will be built for legacy applications, however there may be a need for discrete developments to cover gaps in the product.

Emergency bug fixes
There are often issues with installations on customer sites which surface bugs that need fixing in order to complete the project. In addition, support issues experienced by customers may give rise to bugs which need to be addressed to order to meet support SLAs. The role will be expected to lead on 3rd line issues of this nature.

Technical Documentation
The role will be responsible for creation and maintenance of technical documentation to enable installation engineers and project managers to conduct their role effectively.

Assist with Release Management
The role will assist the Product Development Manager and Software Development Manager with the release management process, ensuring that high quality product releases are completed on time with necessary documentation.

Interface with Software Development Team
The role will be the primary interface between the project delivery team and the software development team, with the ability to explain difficult technical concepts simply for installation engineers and project managers, and also capable of representing the technical needs of the project delivery team to the software development team with a view to improving the products of the business from an implementation perspective.

Customer Engagement
It is expected that the role will engage directly with customers (mostly technical engagements) both to define and where necessary build integration components and other functions.

Skills and Competencies
Development Skills (Essential) – Software development experience specialising in the Microsoft technology stack and including:
• .NET Core
• ASP.NET and ASP.NET MVC
• HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JQuery and frameworks such as Bootstrap
• Entity Framework
• SQL Server
• XML and JSON
• Web Services

Development Skills (Desirable)
• Docker
• PCL, printer drivers and hardware

Infrastructure Skills
A knowledge of how software and hardware interact and the ability to troubleshoot and identify root causes of technical issues. The role is not an infrastructure role, but an interest in how infrastructure affects software will be invaluable. The following experience / knowledge would be useful:
• High level understanding of Windows Server
• SSL/TLS
• TCP/IP

Qualifications – Microsoft Certified Professional
Deployment – Web application deployment
Data Integration – Experience of integration with 3rd party systems, including data integration (particularly SQL) and APIs
SSO Integration – Experience of integration with Single Sign On solutions; particularly Active Directory integration.
